If you opt to do the work yourself, your agent can advise you on the areas you should focus on. Here are four projects that your real estate agent is likely to want taken care of before they list your home.

Declutter Your Home

Decluttering your home may not be the most fun job, but it is one of the best ways to make a home sell more quickly. The idea is to make potential buyers imagine what the home would look like with their furnishings inside. Having shelves filled with your collection of beer steins, rock crystals or other miscellaneous items tends to ruin that vision. Covering every square inch of your walls with photos and artwork or having so much furniture that you barely have room to walk has the same affect. Make That Bathroom Squeaky Clean

Bathrooms also need to be squeaky clean. Replace shower curtains if they've seen better days, or even install shower doors. The tub, shower, toilet and vanity should all be in great shape. Any item with unsightly stains should be replaced. At minimum, consider updating the shower head, faucets and the vanity hardware. Replace your old towels with fresh new ones and make sure all cosmetics and beauty items are out of sight.
